Bredesen, DA’s Promote Meth-Free Tennessee
Governor Bredesen joined the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference in unveiling “Meth Destroys,” a new statewide education and public-awareness campaign targeting young people in the war on methamphetamine abuse. The campaign is an outgrowth of the Governor’s Meth-Free Tennessee Initiative that has cut the number of toxic meth labs by 50% since becoming law. The legislation was spearheaded by Democrats in the General Assembly, including State Senators Charlotte Burks and Jim Kyle, and State Representatives Charles Curtiss, Kim McMillan, Johnny Shaw and Les Winningham. Even the Bush Administration recently praised Tennessee’s comprehensive approach.
